Green energy means a win-win scenario for Turkey

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the International Labor Organization (ILO) published a report examining the employment and social impacts of the transition to renewable energy in Turkey and its benefits. In the report, which stated that it could increase its gross national product by 8 billion dollars every year, it was also noted that it could create employment for more than 300 thousand people and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 8 percent compared to 2019.

In the report, which emphasized that investing in wind and solar energy to meet the energy needs of the future, will not only benefit the environment but also economically, in terms of trade balance, employment creation and growth, it was recommended to modernize technical and vocational education systems in order to provide new skills required by renewable energy technologies in order to facilitate the transition.

With this recommendation, the importance of Vocational High Schools focused on within the scope of the Good DEEDs project is seen once again. The rapidly increasing energy demand and the deepening climate crisis feed the country’s positive attitude towards green energy. Therefore, KHAS predicts that high school teachers will be enthusiastic about being involved in the project and guiding their students in the implementation steps of the project. Because today’s students will be applying solutions that are a necessity for the future of the world.
